The Church of the Living God Denomination was established in 1917 and incorporated in NC.
It was founded in August 1917 by Bishop John Gilbert, in Spray, NC (currently Eden, NC) and
for three decades this humble man of God faithfully served our Lord and The Church of
the Living God Conference.
In 1944, Bishop John Cranfield succeeded Bishop Gilbert, and served as General Overseer until 1969.
Bishop John Savage was elected as General Overseer in 1969 and served until his passing in 1998.
Bishop Donnie Robinette was elected as General Overseer in 1999.
In that election, Biship Robinette shared with the assembly the vision of John 3 Conference Center.
The General Headquarters is named John 3 in honor of Bishop John Gilbert, Bishop John Cranfield and
Bishop John Savage, three men of God who dedicated their lives in service to God and to The Church
of the Living God. Today, the John 3 Conference Center serves as General Headquarters for
The Church of the Living God in NC.
